Understanding how your child learns

At Verbs Education, we believe that every learner deserves to be understood beyond grades, test scores, or behavior in the classroom. That’s why we use MindPrint Learning™ — a cognitive assessment tool ‘normed and validated by neuroscientists at the University of Pennsylvania’s Brain Behavior Lab’ to uncover the how of learning: how learners process, retain, and apply information across a range of thinking tasks.

What is MindPrint?

MindPrint is an online, research-based cognitive assessment developed at the University of Pennsylvania. It is not an achievement or intelligence test. Instead, it measures 10 key skills across four major cognitive domains:

  • Complex Reasoning – abstract, spatial, and verbal reasoning

  • Executive Functions – attention, working memory, flexible thinking

  • Memory – verbal and visual

  • Speed – visual motor speed, processing.

The results produce a profile specific to the learner, offering insight into both strengths and areas where additional support or strategy may help.

Sample Reports

Sample reports are intended to give a general sense of what MindPrint reports look like. However, actual reports are personalized and may differ in layout, language, and detail based on the learner’s unique results and the version shared (Parent/Teacher or Student).

How We Use It

We use MindPrint after your first consultation and free session, if you choose to move forward with personalized tutoring or course placement.

MindPrint helps us:

  • Identify how your child thinks, not just what they know

  • Design instruction that matches how their brain takes in and works with information

  • Support interventions where cognitive demands may be impacting performance

  • Equip families with data to inform school-based advocacy, enrichment, or accommodations

In some cases, we may require the assessment for placement in specialized courses or intensive support programs.

Technology for Growth, Not for Labeling

MindPrint results are not scores to compare or rank students. We do not use them to label learners. Instead, we see each report as a guide — a snapshot of the brain’s learning processes at a point in time.

The results are valid for three years and can be shared with schools, added to support documentation (like IEP/504 files), or simply used privately for self-awareness and learning strategy.

Many of our students have taken the assessment at multiple points in their educational journey, helping them and us track growth from elementary through high school.

A Conversation Starter

MindPrint is often a grounding tool. Students begin to better understand their own patterns — why certain things come easily, and why others feel harder. It opens up real conversations about effort, identity, and how to work with (not against) your brain. It’s not unusual for students (and parents) to feel seen in ways traditional tests or school reports never allowed.

Beyond K–12: College Planning & Readiness

For our high school students, MindPrint offers additional features — including a SAT vs ACT comparison that aligns their cognitive strengths with the format of each test. This helps guide postsecondary planning, test prep strategy, and even school selection.
