Esther Hiamang is an educator and aspiring engineer with a background in mathematics, physics, and engineering science. She holds three associate degrees in mathematics, physics, and civil engineering and is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, with plans to transfer into a graduate program in the same field. Her academic path has not been linear, but it has been consistent in one thing: a deep commitment to learning and to the structures that support it.
Professionally, she has worked in education for almost a decade. She served for three years as a math specialist and intervention teacher at a small nonprofit private school offering an alternative education model. Prior to that, she worked as a center director and tutor for Sylvan Learning and as a tutor at Raritan Valley Community College. Her teaching spans foundational numeracy through advanced Calculus and Engineering Physics. She has worked with students ranging from elementary age to adult learners returning to school.
In addition to teaching, Esther also supports multiple organizations and small businesses with technology infrastructure and strategy. She manages IT planning and support through Verbs Consulting, offering services in web development, digital systems, and technical audits. She brings a practical, solutions-oriented approach to her work.
Her convictions are grounded in a belief that education, when handled with care and clarity, has the power to change not just individuals but communities. Technology, to her, is a tool, not a destination and she values its ability to extend access, efficiency, and insight when used well.
Esther’s career continues to evolve alongside her studies. She is committed to building a future where learners of all types and ages and educators (especially those whose paths do not follow conventional timelines) are given the structure, dignity, and opportunity they deserve.
